A new book from Sabrestorm Publishing reveals the grand strategy of D-Day and the battle for Normandy.
D-Day and the Battle for Normandy is one of the most written about episodes in recent military history. Is it safe to assume that after 75 years, there would be a consensus as to who were the leading protagonists for the Western Allies most famous victory during World War II. Leading wartime expert and battlefield guide, Stuart Robertson (a member of the Royal Historical Society) asks the reader to question many of the most commonly held perceptions of events in 1944 as nothing but deeply ingrained myths, repeated so often that they now go unchallenged.
In Command and Valour, the author addresses these myths head on, and readdresses the truth of the battle. In a no nonsense writing style he shares his conclusions, which may surprise many of those who thought they already knew the narrative of the victory. Additionally the author recounts, for the very first time in a single volume, the instances of incredible valour, which led to the 21 Victoria Crosses and Medals of Honor to be awarded during the Normandy campaign.
This beautifully illustrated colour coffee table book is a fascinating read that delivers more than charts and facts – it is the author’s knowledge of the battle and his tireless work in the fields of Normandy that brings this major moment in world history to life.
Command and Valour is published by Sabrestorm Publishing, RRP £25. More details at www.sabrestorm.com.
