Flogger gets repaint

09 November 2022
A Russian MiG-27k Flogger that features in the 2019 Marvel film, Black Widow, has spent the summer at Newark Air Museum being repainted.

The aircraft was repainted over the dry summer months by museum volunteers at Winthorpe. The MiG-27K is a variable-sweep ground-attack aircraft, designed to fly missions at low altitude. The M/D versions were introduced in the mid-80s, followed by this K version that could carry a much larger load, including tactical nuclear bombs. Soviet MiG-27s were permanently deployed to five foreign countries including East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Mongolia until the 1990s.

The MiG-27 Flogger at Newark Air Museum was one of several aircraft that featured in the museum’s most recent Day/Night photoshoot event on Saturday 29 October, 2022.
