Medals and research in Nottingham

The Orders & Medals Research Society Convention is to return to Nottingham in 2019 with events held over three days from 13 – 15 September.

The Orders & Medals Research Society Convention (OMRS) is coming back to Nottingham in 2019 with events held over three days from 13–15 September.

The Convention itself will be held at the Nottingham Conference Centre, a stylish and spacious venue which proved popular with those attending last year, while the Convention hotel will be the nearby Crowne Plaza.

In 2018 the OMRS moved to Nottingham for the first time after two very successful years in Stratford-upon-Avon. The Nottingham Conference Centre is a radically different type of venue with a purpose-built exhibition area and lecture theatres. The light and space that this provided was appreciated by everyone who attended last year – events were less crowded and there was plenty of room for attendees to relax and socialise.

This year there will be early registration on Friday 13 September for those who wish to make a longer weekend of it followed by the Welcome Reception at the Crowne Plaza Hotel from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. The Reception is an increasingly important part of the Convention weekend and last year a record number of 110 people took the opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones at this event.
On Saturday 14 September there will be talks – the programme is currently being arranged – and members’ exhibitions followed by the presentation of trophies and medals. In the evening the Annual Dinner will be held in the Old Library at the Nottingham Conference Centre.

On Sunday 15 September the OMRS Medal Fair will take place in the Nottingham Conference Centre. The doors will open at 9:30am for pre-registered members and 10:30am for members paying on the day and the general public. The Medal Fair will close at 3pm.
