Medals at Warwick & Warwick

The 20 Feb sale at Warwick & Warwick includes 313 lots of medals and militaria with a medal collection to 2nd, 3rdand 6th Dragoons, a collection of SMS and Kriegsmarine cap tallies.

There are Third Reich armbands and single medals of interest include a 1909 WSPU Hunger Strike medal and bar to Nelly Crocker, with an estimate of £3,500. Meanwhile, there’s a unique WWII Airborne Ops pilot’s DSO, OBE, AFC group of 11 to Wing Commander Ernest Leonard Archer, who made drops the night before D-Day. He flew on D-Day itself, Arnhem and the Rhine crossing. The lot comes with massive array of supporting documents and photos, with an estimate of £12,000.

For something a little older, how about an 1854 Crimea medal with three clasps for Balaklava, Inkermann and Sebastopol, officially impressed to JW McLeod of the 2nd Dragoons who rode in the charge of the Heavy Brigade. Estimate is £700.

As a complete change of pace, there’s a WWII Japanese signed flag, with some staining but in good condition. Estimate is £100. More details on all these lots and online bidding at www.warwickandwarwick.com.
