Staples and Vine, a company producing pewter model aircraft and tanks, has just released a Panzer from 1942.
Panzer IV Aus. F2 from the battle for Stalingrad in 1942 is the latest tank release from Staples and Vine. It is in 1/48 scale and is available in a limited edition of 50 models only. Cast in pewter, this highly detailed model of the Panzer IV F-2 is £195.00 plus shipping. The optional figures are an additional £30.
The Panzer IV was one of the most successful German tanks of World War II. It was in production throughout the war and had many variants. The Panzer IV Ausf. F2 appeared early in 1942 and at the time outgunned any allied tank on the battlefield. They were first used on the Eastern Front against the Russian army where they fought as part of the 14th Panzer Division at the Battle for Stalingrad.
Each handmade limited edition model comes with a history of the tank, and a numbered certificate signed by the sculptor.

- Tank length: 5.4in (137mm)
- Base size: 7.71in (196mm) square

The company also produces a Tiger 1 model, costing £210-£245. The Tiger I, with its 88mm gun and thick armour, outclassed anything of the period. In the right hands it was deadly, as German tank ace Michael Wittmann showed, becoming one of the highest scoring and decorated commanders of the war.
