Latest news from the Newark Air Museum on the Puma helicopter restoration.
Significant progress has been made in recent weeks on the reassembly of Aerospatiale Puma HC Mk 1 helicopter XW208 at the Newark Air Museum.
Detailed fabrication and repair work on the roof of the cabin has allowed the engine cowlings and sliding cowling to be fitted to the helicopter. To borrow from the words of one of the members of the Puma restoration team, this work finally means that, “The Puma is starting to look like a helicopter again!”
Work on the project continues and the team at Newark are pursuing leads on other significant items of the airframe structures that are still missing. More details of visiting the museum at www.newarkairmuseum.org.
