TANKFEST 2023, on 23-25 June, marks the Museum 100th anniversary, and is displaying a suitably impressive line-up of vehicles to celebrate.
Confirmed guest vehicles so far include the Sd.Kfz. 164 Nashorn ‘Phoenix’, Hetzer, T34/85, Panzer I (replica), and AMX-13. More announcements are expected in the run up to the event.
Most exciting to fans of British armour will be the expected show debut of a newly restored WWII Centaur tank, which is part of the Bannister Collection.
Meanwhile, The Tank Museum Workshop team is working to ensure that the Churchill Mark III and Matilda II will all be ready to join the other vehicles in The Tank Museum fleet for the show.
Finally, the Royal Armoured Corps will be in attendance with a range of service vehicles, including the Challenger 2.
For 2023, Curator David Willey has designed the arena displays to tell the century-long story of the tank in terms of the efforts made to counter it on the battlefield, focusing in on the key lessons and developments from each era.
The programme will feature a segment about the very first tanks, tanks from the 1920s and 30s, three separate displays on World War II, followed by the Cold War, new threats in modern warfare and the British Army Display. See TANKFEST.com for the full programme.
