The secondary title of this accomplished and stylish book is A Guide to Royal Air Force Service Uniforms: 1945-2000, which places it firmly in the post-WWII, Cold War and modern designs of the 1990s era. It’s arranged chronologically and covers the uniforms of officers, airmen, women and cadets using a mixture of contemporary photos and colour photos of the actual uniforms. These are the day-to-day uniforms, the flying gear is to be covered in subsequent books. As Simon Rawlings is a graphic designer by trade it’s no surprise to find that Blue/Grey is visually excellent but it’s packed with detail as well, making it a great resource for uniform collectors.
