Author: PETER MARGARITIS
One of the almost endless D-Day books released over the summer, this one looks at how the Germans prepared their defences. To do this, this whopping book looks at the lot of various commanders in France and what they were having to deal with, including an increasing erratic Hitler who, needless to say, kept meddling.
It’s all told chronologically and in the present tense so it has a ticking clock immediacy to it that was used in the film Dunkirk. With vast depth, this is a very impressive look at what happened in the run up to D-Day, from the German side.
