Book 524 in the Osprey Men-at-Arms series covers the Norwegian Waffen-SS through the early war years. While Hitler’s propaganda of a war for European civilisation was the cause for some to join the SS volunteer legions, in Norway it was more a case of supporting their neighbour Finland which was fighting the Soviet Union. It covers the background of the SS in Norway, training, being sent to the Eastern Front, fighting winter battles against the Soviets and then disbandment in 1943. It’s mainly mono but there’s a colour plate section. Consider this an introduction to the subject.
