First published in the 1950s and ‘60s, this title was one of a series by German Wehrmacht commanders on major battles of WWII. Translated into English for the first time, this is the story of the encirclement of Army Group South and its successful breakout in 1944. The tone is very dry and full of criticism of Hitler’s meddling in both military decisions and also penchant for creating paper divisions where none existed. It’s not very long so quite expensive, but the details are straight from the people who were there.
