Author: AARON STEPHAN HAMILTON
This German submarine, currently resting in the mud of the Potomac river, was the only U-boat to receive late war innovations. These included an airmast or snorkel allowing it to recharge batteries and refresh the air supply without surfacing; a new sonar array for detecting Allied ships; and a rubberised acoustic coating to reduce its own sonar signature. This high quality, coffee-table style book looks at both the sub, it’s gear and developments and also has colour photos from the site wreck for those interested in diving.
