Now out in paperback, this is a joint effort between husband and wife journalists telling stories of courage, cunning and compassion. There are 31 stories encompassing 28 individuals and three couples, covering over 300 years of military history.

The stories are split into sections around general themes, starting with Courage, then Messengers, Special Forces, Spies and Intelligence, Couples, Medicine, War at sea War in the air, Escapes and Compassion. Most stories don’t pull any punches, being quite graphic in places, some are well known, others less so and all of them are well worth a read.
