Europe, by Norman Davies, from the Folio Society Europe, by Norman Davies, from the Folio Society
For the first time, full-colour images illustrate Norman Davies’s magisterial work, Europe: A History, in an elegant three-volume edition from The Folio Society, fully updated by the author.

There are some book releases that are an event in themselves. This monster release from the Folio Society is one of them. It’s the complete guide to the development of countries in Europe from the very first settlement, through the conquests of the Roman Empire, the Dark Ages, to the Industrial Revolution, taking in all the military developments along the way. That includes everything from the Napoleonic Wars to the catastrophes of 20th century warfare, ending with the fall of the Soviet Union.

This is an updated version of the original so it means that all the appendix material is now included in the main text, there are 88 pages of colour plates, 138 integrated maps and figure and a new introduction and chronology from the author. It isn’t cheap, but the production standards are first class, the scope is breathtaking. This is a book, in three volumes, to treasure. The Folio Society edition of Europe by Norman Davies, is available exclusively from www.FolioSociety.com.
