BY THOMAS MCKELVEY CLEAVER
The sub-title of this book is The US Air Force Over Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, 1961-75, which follows up the author’s previous book looking at the role of the US Navy in Vietnam.
The scope is much wider, as it covers the politics over the period, as well as notable air offensives and comments from the pilots on both sides. It’s these copious comments from those doing the flying and fighting that really bring the book to life and this is backed up by a photo plate section in the middle. It’s really a fascinating inside story of what it was like for pilots over south east Asia.
