The large format, glossy production is very much a labour of love from author Jon Huggett who spent years putting the information together, but then wise asked a pro photographer to produce the pictures for it. It’s Volume 1 which covers the historical background and the Volunteer Movement before getting into the individual parts and accessories.

There’s everything here from  percussion cap pouches to muzzle stoppers, bullets, powder and other ammunition. It concludes with a chapter on shooting and maintaining an Enfield rifle. What’s nice is that the large format means the contents have room to be fully explored and photographed well, often showing multiple angles to the items under discussion.
