BY THOMAS ANDERSON
Proper recon can make the difference between success and failure in any battle, which was recognised in the fledgling Wehrmacht and then the Waffen-SS. This is the latest book from Thomas Anderson covering the panzer forces and how armoured cars of the 1930s were developed in order to provide recon elements.
It covers the history and development of the units and their equipment, the action in Poland France, developments in North Africa, the invasion of the Soviet Union, and further developments from 1943 onwards. There are copious photos, tables and period illustrations of combat formations. It has a lot of detail, though it's very dry in tone.
