The Battle of Britain: A Visual History

17 November 2022

The title gives you a clue as to the style of this large format book but that’s not to say it doesn’t have a decent amount of text as well because it does. It combines photos with illustrations and period propaganda posters as it tells the story through the initial phase, the aircraft involved, targeting the airfields and the switch to bombing the cities. As such it’s the story of The Blitz as well, though the artwork is heavily weighted towards the battle until near the end. Some of the photos are excellent and the only real complaint is that there are too many illustrations and artists views where photos should have been used. Still, superb production standards.
