The Porsche Tiger and Ferdinand Tank Destroyer The Porsche Tiger and Ferdinand Tank Destroyer

This colossal effort was originally two books, published in German, but here it’s a combined effort looking at the Porsche Tiger and the Ferdinand/Elefant tank destroyer. The author really gets into the design process, with documentation and photos from the factories and testing grounds. There’s the history of the development of both vehicles, and the politics of why the Porsche Tiger wasn’t the successful model.

The photos are fantastic, really exploring the production process and then throwing the Elefant into combat. There are schematics, technical specs and original technical drawings from the design team and Porsche himself. With 500, high quality, glossy pages, in a whopping A4 format, this is a tour-de-force of publishing.
